ABOUT
Husband and wife team Sam Caster and Emma Barnum started Brass Ring Coffee in 2014. It began as a small farmer's market stand selling pour-over coffee from local roasters. Sam later began roasting himself for the market and for sales to friends and local businesses. The farmers' market stand has since grown to incorporate cold brew and nitro coffee, tea, and an assortment of espresso drinks. Sam and Emma have had two children since Brass Ring Coffee was created, and Dean and Henry were regular "helpers" at the market stand on Saturday mornings, until they got too big to stay in one place for that long!
Since COVID-19 has hit the US (and the 2020 Farmers' Market was cancelled for food vendors), we have also ramped up direct sales, making curbside deliveries around town and shipping fresh beans to our friends around the country. Our beans can also be found in the coffee aisles of the Iowa City and Coralville New Pioneer Coops.
Brass Ring Coffee strives to offer fresh and fun roasts from farms that value environmental sustainability, fair wages for workers, and high quality coffee. This is a true labor of love for us, and we are excited to continue finding new ways to connect Brass Ring Coffee with our community and beyond.
